Clergy Renewal Grant

A Time for Personal Rest & Renewal

What Makes Your Heart Sing?

In 2026, our church family applied…

The key questions our Pastor and congregation had to answer was…

As a result, we sent a survey to our church famiy…

  • The results of our community-wide survey demonstrate an unequivocal, unified voice: 100% of all respondents voted "Yes" to fully supporting our pursuit of the Lilly Endowment Pastor Renewal Grant. This unanimous endorsement is a powerful testament to our congregation's deep commitment to the spiritual and physical well-being of Pastor Josh and Debbie Hahn, and to the collective renewal of our church body. This level of support provides a strong foundation for our grant application and our vision for a revitalized leadership and community.

  • Respondents articulated a compassionate and profound understanding of the need for pastoral renewal. The consensus is that a sabbatical is not a luxury, but an essential component of sustaining effective long-term ministry.

    • Recognition of Demands: The community acknowledged the unique, all-consuming demands placed on the Hahn family, noting the "astronomical amount of time" and emotional labor dedicated to the church, often leaving insufficient time for personal restoration.

    • Essential for Ministry: Many noted that renewal is "integral to continuing God's service" and a "great need," ensuring Pastor Josh can continue to "pour from the overflow" with renewed vigor, passion, and health—physically, spiritually, relationally, and emotionally.

    • Encouragement from the Flock: The community shared messages of deep appreciation and support, urging the Hahns to "take the time you need" for rest and spiritual refueling, assuring them of our "100% congregation support."

  • The grant also funds activities designed to foster deeper connection and renewal within the congregation while the Hahns are away. The energy for these collective events is high, with the community demonstrating a desire for a balanced season of both spiritual growth and joyful fellowship. The top preferences are:

    1. Churchwide Cookout - 53%

    2. Worship Night with Dinner (New Pal Concert Stage) - 43%

    3. Arc Encounter - 33%

    4. Church outside/offsite in a public place followed by baptisms and cookout - 33%

    5. Rent Movie Theater - 30%

This enthusiasm confirms our plan to use this season to deepen our bonds and prepare for the Hahns' revitalized return.
